Travis and Lindsay, oh man these two are SOOO cute!! Lindsay and I went to the same youth group for a short period of time about 7 years ago (wow, I am starting to feel old haha) at Tsawwassen Alliance Church. And Travis is actually one of my best friends from elementary school’s cousin! Travis and I had never met before, but I was very excited when Alana and her lovely mother; Lori, recommended me to them! Thank you! Anyway, enough about how I met these two – you want to hear about how they met each other.

Travis and Lindsay went to the same church (Tsawwassen Alliance Church) for a few years but never talked to each other. That changed one night at a mutual friends house party. They started dating shortly after that, a couple of their favourite dates being; a day trip to Seattle where they watched a Mariner’s game and a picnic on the beach in Steveston. Something I personally love about these two is that they read books aloud to each other! It started when they both decided they wanted to read the book Crazy Love (amazing book btw) and just ended up reading it aloud to each other because that was easier. They have continued to do this ever since.

Travis realized fairly quickly that Lindsay was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. So, on Thursday, October 17, 2013 on a cloudy afternoon Travis took Lindsay to Spanish Banks. They walked around the beach, talking and enjoying each others company. Then he brought out a new book to read to Lindsay. It was a story that Travis had written about Lindsay and him!! When he finished reading the story, he got down on one knee and asked Lindsay to marry him! Lindsay said yes! And as soon as she did the clouds over the city disappeared and the sun came out! God was definitely smiling 🙂

For their engagement session we decided to go to Steveston, as it is a special spot for them. We walked around and visited places in the freezing cold, but sunny weather. This was the coldest session I have ever photographed. It was February and about -7 degrees celsius, plus in Steveston there was a wind chill, so it felt like -11! You wouldn’t know by the smiles and sweet looks shared between Travis and Lindsay though! They were such troopers. Good job you two! Enjoy the photos.

First stop; Beatmerchant Record Store! Travis used to work at Beatmerchant, so the very nice owner let us take some photos outside and inside the store 🙂MS-blog001MS-blog002

What a good looking couple eh!? Before you scroll down any further, let me tell you something about the next few photos. We were all just about ready to go home and completely frozen. Our handwarmers were no longer warm, our skin pink, feet numb, hands frozen (I was starting to develop a claw hand from gripping my camera), but then I noticed something in the distance. A field covered in ice! With the sun setting, I knew it would make for an awesome photo. I basically begged Travis and Lindsay to take one last photo (which for me is usually like 10-20 more haha). They agreed (you two are amazing btw, thank you for trusting me) and we walked our freezing cold selves over to the field. The ice was not yet completely frozen, so Travis and Lindsay had to be very careful where they stepped.  MS-blog016

We ended the shoot with this photo:

Love it! Thank you Travis and Lindsay for sticking out the freezing cold weather with me. I am SOOO excited for your wedding coming up end of May!! Love, Marie

Today I would like to share with you the lovely Michelle and Jesse’s wedding. You may remember them from their fall engagement session here. They both went to the same high school, but never really talked to each other except for Michelle asking to borrow one of Jesse’s pencils in biology class in grade 8 haha. It wasn’t until after graduation that the two started seeing each other and began to fall in love and imagine their lives together.

Jesse proposed to Michelle on her birthday by spelling out the words ‘Will you marry me?” in tea lights on the beach after having had a nice dinner at the Keg and walk around the place where Jesse first asked Michelle to be his girlfriend. “It was the best birthday present!!” Michelle said.

They are a super cute couple and their wedding at Minter Gardens was just beautiful. Pink and grey were their main colours, with a sweet and stylish theme. Michelle said; “I really wanted the beauty of the garden to be the focus of the décor so I kept things simple with pink.” Sadly, Minter Gardens actually shut down in October 2013 after 33 years of being in business. Brian Minter created such a stunning garden (one of BC’s most famous) and I hope these photos will not only show the love of Michelle and Jesse on their wedding day, but also the beauty of Minter Gardens. Enjoy!

Hi there! So, I haven’t posted any photos from my trip to Belize and Honduras last month. I thought today I would share the most tourist-y thing I got to do in Roatan, Honduras – going on a mangrove tunnel boat tour! It was a pretty incredible sight  🙂

We were all a bit skeptical at first because well, this was what we would be travelling in: Roatan-mangroves-1

And the weather wasn’t looking too good either, note the dark grey skies.Roatan-mangroves-2Roatan-mangroves-3

Sure enough it started to downpour! We were holding up my towel and a tarp to cover ourselves from the rain, but we all got pretty drenched. I had to stop taking photos for a while and just protect my camera.Roatan-mangroves-4

But then we got to the mangrove tunnels!Roatan-mangroves-5

Even though I was drenched, it was SO cool to see!Roatan-mangroves-6MS-blog001Roatan-mangroves-8Roatan-mangroves-10MS-blog002Roatan-mangroves-14Roatan-mangroves-17MS-blog003Roatan-mangroves-11

Pretty cool hey? It definitely took my breath away. It was worth being completely soaked to see these incredible tunnels.

I wish I could write more about the trip right now, but I will have to do that another day! Stay tuned.

Love, Marie

  • Harold Rice - Great shots Marie. I wondered how it looked from the front of the boat. A little more impressive from the front than the back end. Crossing the bay with the wind and rain I was glad we had what meager life preservers available on board! I will email you a picrura of our guide Alex at the back end in the rain.ReplyCancel

I am SO excited to announce that my photos have been published in Heirloom Magazine! Andrew & Christina’s wedding was quite a while ago, but it was absolutely gorgeous!! An elegant, rustic barn wedding filled with wonderful details! You can see the whole blog post HERE. I am really glad their photos found a home in this lovely local magazine 🙂

Purchase your copy of the magazine here: http://www.heirloommagazine.com/magazine/ It’s filled with lots of wedding goodness for the DIY bride!
