It was a year ago to this day that I shot Christoph and Monique’s beautiful wedding near Pemberton, BC. This wedding was so special to me for many reasons, here are just a few:

1. Christoph is a friend of mine from photo school

2. It was the first wedding I shot where I was the main photographer

3. It was the one and only wedding I shot solo (no second-shooter)

4. It was my first BC destination wedding

5. It was the first wedding I got featured on a wedding blog (love and lavender, check it out: HERE)

6. Christoph and Monique are SO SO wonderful, as are their families

7. I had the most amazing time!!!

8. I got to bring up my lovely boyfriend, who I have now been with (as of yesterday) for 3 years; Chris!! Love you!

Here are a few photos to remember this magical day 🙂

Oh my goodness, how I love this couple. Kari is a great friend of mine that I have known since kindergarten! She is such an amazing woman, super sweet, with a heart of gold. And she LOVES being outside in the sun more than anyone I know, if she can do something outside (homework, using her laptop, reading, eating, etc.) she will be out there in a flash! And now she has found someone that shares that obsessive-ness for being outside as well!

This is how they met in Kari and Andre’s words: “We met outside in the September sunshine. It was the end of Student Leadership Retreat at Columbia Bible College, and Kari was sitting out in the sunshine, with homework on her mind. And Andre, after seeing the gorgeous Kari Lynn sitting against a tree, decided to move in. The rest is history. Kari never got her homework done. And Andre took home the prize.” haha too cute!

When asked what do you love most about your fiance, this is what they had to say: “Kari loves Andre’s heart for the church and for people, his incredibly sweet, humble, and super loving character, his athletic ability, his obsession with learning and knowing truth, and of course his super good looks! Andre loves everything about his amazingly beautiful Kari Lynn. He loves her incredibly loving nature, her kind, gentle, patient, and passionate heart. He loves how she can actually put up with his ridiculousness, and still love him, and actually even like him. More than anything though, he loves how she has become his best friend, confidante, and the one who is always running through his mind!” Wow…way to make me tear up guys!

And now you all just have to hear their proposal story from Kari: “In Abbotsford, we would go on so many walks around Fishtrap, this one trail close to school, and we would spend hours at this one gazebo that overlooks a pond. He tricked me one night and told me we were going to be visiting some friends in Abbotsford. My friends even were texting me saying how excited they were to see me! Before we saw our friends, Andre wanted to walk around Fishtrap as we hadn’t done it in a while. When we got to the gazebo, his friends had already decorated it with tons of candles and bouquets of flowers. There was a warm dinner and wine waiting for us and even cheesecake for dessert! (chocolate of course – Kari loves chocolate!) He had wrote me a song on the guitar, played it, and then got down on one knee asking if I could be his wife. (I had been bawling the entire time by the way) So, of course I said YES! We kissed, hugged, cried, and then spent the next few hours by candlelight cuddling. It was wonderful.”

Here are some photos from their proposal (taken by one of their friends):

We did their engagement session in Ladner, where Kari and I are from. I took them to multiple places including an old barn and a field of buttercups with horses that weren’t too happy to see us haha. More on that when you scroll down.

Such a beauty.

We did  a little strawberry picking 🙂

Okay so before we could take this next photo below, 3 large beautiful horses (owned by the people that were letting me shoot in their field) came out of their stable and started circling us and snorting at us!! Andre and Kari kept talking about whether horses charge or not haha as we all got up and slowly walked towards the gate. We could feel the horse’s gaze burning at our backs and they all slowly trotted behind us til we got out of their field to talk to the owner. I don’t think I have ever been so scared during an engagement session before! haha I don’t know horses too well, but I do know they are strong and if they don’t want us there we better get out. With the owners help, we tried to make friends with the horses and then he just ended up locking them in their stables because they were being too agressive haha. Sorry horses, and thanks for letting us use your space! haha

I asked Andre to play a song while I was taking the photos and both him and Kari played “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” and it was so beautiful! I had no idea Kari had such a lovely voice and I actually got teary eyed.

There was a lama too haha

Love you guys and I can’t wait for your wedding this October!! 🙂

I had SO much fun with Vitoria at Jericho Beach! Vitoria is a brazilian exchange student who came to Vancouver for the school year and before she left, she wanted to get some professional photos to remember her time here! Such a good idea! She brought along her Brazilian flag, a Canadian flag, a lovely red dress, and some Canucks paraphernalia! So awesome.

Check out these super cute photos of her 🙂

I watched “Snow White and the Huntsman” the day before this shoot and I think it inspired to take these next couple photos haha

She wears Toms too, and they are purple. I like 🙂

SO gorgeous.

Canucks!

I love this stitch of photos.

Love her hair.

Thanks so much for a fun photo-shoot Vitoria and thanks to Abbye for helping me out!

HI there everyone!

I am excited to announce that I have hidden my second scavenger hunt card!!
My goal for this one was to get 250 likes on my facebook page for Marie Skerl Photography (you can see it HERE).

Now that I have reached that goal (thanks SO much to everyone who liked my page!!) some lucky person will have the chance to find a card entitling them to 50% off any portrait session of their choice! Portrait sessions include; headshots, family photos, engagement sessions, maternity sessions, and many more!

Okay so now what you all have been waiting for, where did she hide that card!?!?

My second card is hidden somewhere I have taken headshots and engagement photos before (we used an awesome vw van in this one) and is a great place to go and pick strawberries, buy delicious fruit wine, feed birds, and is just a super cute little place that I love.
The card is hidden on the entry way of this lovely place.

Here are some shots of the card and where it is placed, the first one to find it and contact me (my phone number is: 604 715 1236) gets 50% off their choice of portrait session!! The last card was found an hour after I posted the photos, so if you know where this is GO!!!

Please continue to like my facebook page HERE as it will be the source of revealing my next card placement. After every “50” likes I will hide a new card. I have 20 cards altogether. So, get liking, I need 300 for the next card to be hidden! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 😀

Lots of love,

Marie

PS THIS CARD WAS FOUND IN ABOUT 23 MINUTES!! Check out the facebook page HERE for more information on the next one!

I had lots of fun with this awesome, adorable family! We went to Fred Gingell Park, took some photos in my home-made tent and then some photos on the beach. Malissa, Quentin, and Hope all had a long day before coming to get their photos taken including attending a wedding and driving to Coquitlam, but they still had fun and we got some really sweet photos! Thanks so much for a great time and for staying awake! haha

Hope loves her stuffed sheep “baba” 🙂

It was close to Malissa and Quentin’s anniversary when we took these photos, Happy Anniversary you two! 🙂
