Chelsea and Luke are such an adorable couple!! I loved them instantly when we met up for our initial meeting haha. They went to the same youth group and first talked to each other when they were in Grade 10. They developed a great friendship and eventually began dating. After about 2 years of dating, which included starring as Tarzan and Jane in a professional show and bungee jumping together in Whistler (both so awesome!), Luke was more than ready to propose. He took Chelsea to a beautiful place they like to go together; Alouette Lake.
Here is Chelsea’s take on the proposal: Well in one word, it was AMAZING! Luke completely surprised me! We had been planning on going kayaking that Saturday but due to work I ended up having the Wednesday off and not the Saturday so we decided to go out midweek. That morning we went out for breakfast with some of our best couple friends and when I was in the washroom Luke apparently hinted at what he was about to do. I came back and didn’t even notice that they were all acting a little funny because of the news!
We then left for our absolute favourite spot in the world, Alouette Lake. It is such a beautiful place…You can’t help but know there is a God, because no one else could have created such a glorious site. Luke and I grabbed our kayaks and paddled across the lake to “our beach” (aka just a more secluded place that you need a boat to get to). we laid out our towels and Luke surprised me with a picnic of all of my favourite things! He is a very observant man.
After a few hours of soaking in the sun and swimming in the clear, blue water Luke started to wander around the beach. He came back with a long, string-like piece of grass and started joking about how our love was like grass because we need God’s love and nourishment to sustain us just like the grass needs sunlight and water. I have no idea what else he said but I do know that he had me howling (as per usual). He then tied the string around my engagement ring finger and said that it would make the perfect ring. I jokingly went along until, honestly clueless that he was going to propose (he does these kinds of things). Then he took my hand and started telling me about how much he loves me and that he is so thankful for all the memories we’d had at Alouette Lake and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life making new memories with me. He then got down on one knee, pulled a shiny ring out of his pocket, and asked me to marry him.
Well of course I said yes, started crying, and then jumped into his strong arms! He then surprised me with mini bottles of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! It was the best day…so magical and so filled with blessings.
SO wonderful!!! For their engagement session, we went to Alouette Lake and took photos around some of their favourite places and in our last spot we even re-created the proposal. Such a gorgeous place and a gorgeous couple! 🙂
Hehe they are too cute!
I definitely thought of The Little Mermaid (Ariel on the rocks) when photographing these 😛
They are basically models, like seriously.
Haha a little Titanic for ya, they are in theatre after all 😛
They are ridiculously good-looking.
We headed to the lake for a little picnic.
Haha these two are awesome, lots of laughter on this engagement session! We re-created the proposal in the next few photos:
