I had SO much fun on Katie and Matt’s engagement session! Not only was it their 2nd year Anniversary of dating that day, but it was also Katie’s Birthday!! So, there was a lot to celebrate 🙂
Before I delve into what we did for the engagement session, I want to tell you a little bit about this couple. Katie and Matt met each other at church through their young adults ministry, became friends and started dating. One of their favourite dates they ever went on was in Chilliwack, they split a dinner of 120 prawns(!) and then went to the closed off section of Chilliwack lake and jumped in the water – did I mention this was in October! Brave ones, they are. After being frozen from the lake, they went home to cocoa and movies. When I asked the two what they love most about each other Katie said “I love his heart for people and for God,” and Matt said; “I love her heart and how she gives herself to help others.” So sweet.
When it came time for Matt to propose he had a great idea of hiding the engagement ring in a tea bag! On August 10th, 2012 he took Katie for a walk in the park with a thermos full of his special tea he had made for her. Katie asked him if she could have some throughout the walk, but Matt said (not knowing too much about tea at the time) that it needed to steep for at least 20 minutes. Katie was a little bit curious about what kind of tea Matt had made for her haha. Eventually they sat down and Matt let her have some of the tea and low and behold a beautiful ring was inside the tea bag! Matt proceeded to get on one knee and ask Katie to marry him. Yay!
For their engagement session we went to White Rock Beach – it is a place Katie and Matt go often together. We debated about doing a food fight (Matt reeeeeally wanted to do a food fight photo shoot), but decided holi powder might be a little better. Maybe we will do a food fight for their day after session 😛 Anyway, it was a very special day that day because as I mentioned earlier it was Katie and Matt’s 2nd year anniversary of dating AND Katie’s Birthday. I really wanted to make it special so I made some cupcakes with a “2” candle in them and brought some props included a “Happy Birthday” sign for Katie. We had a tv and popcorn as well! I will let the photos do the rest of the talking now. Enjoy!
So sweet.
Stunning.
Aww Matt, you did say you wanted a food fight 😛
For their 2nd year Anniversary!
And a little Happy Birthday photo for Katie! 🙂 Love this one.
Those seagulls really flew by right then! For reals. I love when that happens.
Holi powder time!!
The wind blew the powder right back to Matt haha.
They look seriously good covered in holi powder!
Thanks so much to Kaylin for helping me out with this session!
