For Andrew & Christna’s engagement session we went to a few different places around Stanley Park. We started off with a nice, fall-inspired (and delicious!) picnic and ended in the rain at the Lighthouse.
I had a lot of fun with these two! They are super easy-going and super cute. When we were planning the shoot I was a bit worried about the weather and they just said “if it rains, we will bring out our rubber boots and umbrellas!” haha so awesome. They also gave me the most detailed answers for their engaged couples questionnaire (I send out questionnaires so I can get to know my couples a bit before I start taking photos of them) I have ever gotten. I learned that Andrew can be a bit clumsy and Christina has a legitimate phobia of pb & j mixed together in sandwiches! I didn’t believe it at first either, but it’s true! haha Besides those facts I also had the pleasure of reading about how they met and fell for eachother. And because I love these things – I am going to share some of their story.
One day Andrew was walking his dog, Ellie, through the park and she started bolting at something…well someone haha. That someone was Christina. They started chatting and ended up going on a date – they just clicked. Is that not the cutest thing!? Very 101 Dalmatians 😛 Anyway, they continued to date and one memorable date they both hopped into Andrews car and drove to pretty much every part of Vancouver. They went through a car wash and drove through Stanley park talking about everything they had experienced in life and what they both wanted. During this car ride they both really realized how much they enjoyed spending time together. The night ended with Andrew dropping Christina off at midnight, only for her to get a phone call 20 minutes later from Andrew asking if she wanted to go get some hot chocolate and continue the date haha.
After a while of dating, Andrew decided he wanted to pop the question. He flew into Vancouver (he is from up North) without telling Christina, got his hair cut, ran home and grabbed a suit and had his friend tell Christina that he needed a hand for a photo shoot at Atkinson Lighthouse in West Vancouver. She walked down to find Andrew standing at the bottom of the trail waiting for her. He lead her up to a rock bluff overlooking Stanley Park and proposed. Her cousin Monique and husband Christoph (yes the same Monique and Christoph who’s wedding I shot this past summer: see it HERE) were there to take photos and enjoy a bottle of champagne to celebrate! 🙂
Thank you so much you two for an awesome engagement shoot, even though we did get pretty wet by the end. I am SO looking forward to your wedding this August!!
