Joe and Mikaela met at a bible study that was lead by Mikaela’s sister. I thought this was pretty cool because my parents met at a bible study too and they are still very happily in love 🙂 Both Joe and Mikaela like the outdoors – hiking, camping, etc. and they both love to cook and eat – so, of course they would get along well. After about a year and a half of hiking, cooking, and eating together Joe decided that Mikaela was the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Now, some of you readers out there might know Joe from Anvil Island because he has frequently helped out there. I think the story of his proposal was being kept secret for a while, but I have to tell it because it is SO darn romantic. Sorry Joe, hope this is okay! 😛 Alright, so one night at Anvil Island Joe got a bunch of his friends to put flowers out by this hot tub overlooking the ocean. He brought Mikaela in front of a warm, crackling fireplace and the hot tub surrounded by beautiful flowers and right there on April 27th, 2011 he got on one knee and proposed to her. Mikaela accepted with glee!
Because Joe and Mikaela are both outdoorsy (is that a word? haha) people, it was only fitting that we were in a gorgeous, outdoor place for their engagement shoot. They requested Minter Gardens in Chilliwack, I had never been there before but it didn’t disappoint. There were lots of neat places to take photos and we even got to stay a little later after the park closed to get some nice backlit shots. I will stop typing now so you can all enjoy the photos! 🙂
