I am back from my 3 week family trip to Austria & Croatia! 🙂
It took a lot longer than I thought it would to put this blog post together because I had so many photos to choose from and didn’t really know where to start, so I apologize to those who have been waiting. My family and I went to Graz, Austria mostly to visit my grossmutti (grandma) and to see family, my mom is from Graz so all her family members are there. After about 2 weeks there, we went to Croatia and stayed in a town called; Biograd. While we were in Croatia we also visited Zagreb, Krka (has amazing waterfalls), Nin, and Šibenik. After 5 days there, we went back to Graz for a couple days and then to Vienna, Austria for 4 days where we eventually caught our flight back to Vancouver (through London first). It was a pretty long trip, but it was a great experience! I improved my German a bit and am still working on it haha. And I hope to visit again! Alles Liebe an Familie und Freunde in Graz und Wien!
Graz, Austria
These were our neighbours 😛
I loved this field of buttercups.
You have probably all seen this before in my “21” blog post, but I couldn’t help posting it one more time. My brother and I bought traditional Austrian clothing haha.
Mark needed some help smiling for the camera, so we tickled him 😛
This is really cute. In the city of Graz there is this fence where couples can write their names on a lock and hang it!
With friends, we went to a buschenschank famous for their apples; Mausser Most. Below is their apple vineyard.
This is a view of Graz from the Schloßberg, which is basically a small mountain with a clock tower on it. It’s a landmark of Graz.
This is my cousin and I with grossmutti, she is suffering from Alzheimers, but she can still smile 🙂
Eggs in a basket, daisies, and lupins were just some of the many things we found at the open market in Graz.
The beautiful Noemi.
Croatia
Sveti Jakov Church.
Super cool old village.
The boats to Krka waterfalls.
A little long exposure 🙂
I did a bunch of long exposures here and on the last shot I lifted my camera up as I was taking the photo, but I think it looks pretty cool!
My new backpack and Croatian souvenirs!
There were so many of these poppies in Croatia.
I know you might be thinking, why the heck is Marie wearing jeans and sneakers to the beach on a sunny day!? Well, it was actually really windy almost the entire time we were in Croatia, so no swimming or much tanning could be done 🙁
But it was still beautiful! The water was so blue.
The building on the right is our hotel, it was designed to have the shape of a boat as we were staying right next to the marina.
I clearly have a thing for these old doors and windows, I have so many photos of them haha
A drink pronounced; “mish-mash,” a Croatian specialty made with Fanta and red wine. Delicious.
And the pizza was also delicious! Mark has to have Hawaiian pizza wherever we go haha.
Side-of-the-road cherries we bought.
You can blow really big bubbles with this gum 😛
Vienna, Austria
My dad is waving out of the apartment window we were staying at.
The worlds tallest swing ride!! Yes, I went on it. It is 383 feet high. My mom was left to take the photos haha
There we are! If you want to watch a video off this ride, check THIS out.
And look who I found! My good friend, Bernd. We went on this ride, it was pretty crazy – you do the ride once forwards and then you do it again backwards! Check THIS video out if you want to see it in action.
A long exposure of all the people and pigeons walking in the town centre of vienna.
And some instagrams as well (from top left and across): view from house in Graz, glass elevator, dirndl close-up, beer made of gummies, an inflatable ball you try to run in on the water haha, mark and i trying on lederhosen and dirndl, fountain in the city of Graz, homemade schnapps with a plum, willow tree and canoe by lake in Graz, pizza made of gummies, frozen yogurt (actually tasted like yogurt), hotel we stayed at in Croatia, view from hotel in Croatia, table decor, rainy day in Croatia, pillow design, old church, old church looking straight up, blue rock by the mediterranean sea, beach in Biograd, hotel menu, Biograd beach, hotel table cloth, trees by beach, Eva tuna (my mom’s name is Eva), chocolate pudding dessert, beach in Croatia, mish-mash drink, funky chair in hotel, pink phone at Croatian highway stop.
Okay well that was basically my trip! I hope you enjoyed looking through these many photos and if any of them tickled your fancy (that’s a weird saying haha), you can look at them HERE (you can see the panoramas better) and even buy one! Thanks for reading! 🙂
Love, Marie
