So, I adore this couple. Maia and Mark attended Dan & Amy’s wedding in May 2012 and just before they got engaged in October 2012 Maia contacted me. I knew I would like them just from Maia’s emails 🙂
Maia and Mark met at Bard on the Beach, they both went with a mutual friend and watched “The Merchant of Venice.” A romantic Shakespearean start to their relationship, I would say. Maia and Mark love to go on adventures and travel together! Maia has travelled to Asia, Africa, Europe, East Coast, Hawaii and Central America to name a few. They had some of their favourite dates walking around in Bellingham and riding bikes along the river near Maia’s house. They were falling more and more in love and Mark knew he had to marry this woman.
This is their proposal story (from Maia via email to me): “Just letting you know that we are officially ENGAGED! It was soooo romantic  🙂  Apparently Mark was supposed to propose on Sunday (we had a date day) but it was POURING so he had to postpone it! So, last night he told me we were going for dinner at our friends but, seeing as it was a nice sunny night, he wanted to fit in a walk along the fort to fort trail in Fort Langley before we went  🙂  As we were walking along we came to this lookout that overlooks the Fraser River. There was a GORGEOUS sunset AND a double rainbow! Underneath the lookout there is a lower level (like a dock underneath) and there were candles, photos of us, roses, champagne and a picnic all laid out! I, of course, cried  😉  We enjoyed our dinner and then he asked me to dance (put on “Million Miles” by Josh Garrels). So we danced and he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! I, tearfully, said YES! Our friend was secretly taking photos in the bushes! Afterwards we went to my friends house where there was a post-engagement surprise party and celebrated with more champagne and looking through the pictures! We then went to my parents house for another round! It was amazing  🙂 ” SOOO cute!
Here is a photo from the proposal:
For their engagement photos we wanted to incorporate things that were important to Maia and Mark. We started with Starbucks because Maia and Mark love Starbucks. And then we went to a super cute site in Surrey owned by A Rocha, a farm style conservation organization that Maia used to work for! It had so many awesome elements including a big yellow barn, cute buildings, tall trees, big field and a llama that would spit on you if you came too close haha. I will let the photos do the rest of the talking! Enjoy!
The bling!
Hehe too cute.
Llama joined in the photos from a safe distance haha.
After the tent photos an incredible fog started to roll in!
Don’t you just love their outfit!? Take note future engaged couples!Â
Thanks so much Maia and Mark, I am SO excited for your wedding coming up in less than 2 weeks!!  😀
And a big thank you to Sam for assisting me on this engagement session! You were awesome girl!
